Delaware Baseball
Native Delawareans
who have managed in the Major Leagues.
Two Delawareans have taken the helm and managed a major league team. Hans Lobert led Philadelphia for two games in 1938 and then managed them for the entire season in 1942. Lobert did not fare well as Philadelphia did not have much talent with which he could work. For at least one season, however, the other native Delawarean manager, Dallas Green, did have a talented baseball team which he successfully led. The 1980 Philadelphia Phillies won the World Series under Green's guidance.
